Working in fused glass is both an adventure and calling for me...I love the bold colors of dichroic glass, and gravitated to it the first time I saw it. In designing my abstract bottle stoppers, I delight in trying new combinations of transparent, opaque, and dichroic glass. I never know what is going to come out of the kiln! I feel so blessed to be able to create beautiful and useful things for a living, and it brings me a lot of satisfaction to know how much people are enjoying my art. My dichroic pieces integrate both transparent and opaque glass, sometimes as many as five layers. I add gold leaf to many of my bottle stopper designs, adding another facet to the overall design. Fusing the glass at temperatures around 1450 degrees, I usually take the piece through a second firing for a polished look. I recently added wire-wrapping to some of my pendants, with my goal being to create truly unique dichroic jewelry. All my accessories are nickel-plated, (bottle stoppers, purse hangers, bookmarks and key chains) and I use industrial adhesive to attach the glass. Throughout the entire process, I strive to create the highest quality product, and I stand behind every WellmanGlass piece I make.
